European Clubmakers Guild - French Profiles

André Thaon d'Arnoldi, 67 years old, launched his career as a career commissioned officer in the French Artillery, leading to his love of the study of ballistics and their possible optimisation, using scientific and rigorous methods.

In 2000 he started a golf shop, equipped, from the start, with a launch monitor. He was immediately made aware of the capacity, or lack thereof, of the OEM brands to get their golfing clients to obtain, every year, what they so brilliantly advertised.

Following a clubmaking/clubfitting apprenticeship at the well known  MALTBY school in England in 2005, he decided to meet with Tom Wishon in Colorado.

This meeting was a revelation, even though he was already convinced by the unquestionable superiority of custom made clubs.

He thus decided to engage in custom clubmaking early in 2006, only never to leave it, and stopped his retailing activities to devote himself entirely to this new exciting craft.

Qualified and certified level 10 clubmaker by AGCP (Association of Golf Clumaker Professional), he has become the incontestable leader and reference of clubmaking in France, which he still continues to develop, noticeably by training new clubmakers.
